You can either be a trainer (for battles) or a coordinator (for contests) and you can enter contests or gyms.
Your Pokemon can NOT be invincible and they must be real.
You can start out with one (must be first evolution and level 5) but it can't be a legendary.
If you want to catch a legendary at some point in the game, ask LotusCalm.
Battles
Before you start a battle, you have to decide whose Pokemon will win. Its fine if you don't use this technique, because you have a different idea or you want a specific Pokemon to win (if you have other ideas please let me, LotusCalm, know but BOTH FIGHTERS must agree to do it differently.
Each level for your Pokemon gets ten points. A level 29 has 290 points. A level 100 has 1000 points. A level 89 has 890 points.
If your Pokemon is super-effective against the other one, then you get an additional 5 points.
If you're not very effective against another one, you lost 5 points.
If it was water vs. fire, the fire Pokemon would lose ten points and the water Pokemon would gain 10.
Legendaries get an additional 20 points.
The Pokemon with the most points will win the battle.
Next, you role-play the battle.
Level
You get EXP (experience) for each level of the Pokemon you beat. To advance a level you need three times the EXP of your level. A level 30 needs 90 EXP and gets 26 EXP for beating a level 26.
Note: You don't have to role-play all your battles, like if you're training. It just has to be reasonable. You can't post and say 'Umbreon just battled 30 Pokemon and advanced 10 levels.'
Contests
Contests work like pet shows. You and your Pokemon try to impress the 3 judges. (If you want to be a judge ask LotusCalm before making your character.)
In the first round you try to impress the judges with strength, powers, beauty, grace, or skill (depending on what the contest is). You get points based on how well you do.
In the second rounds you battle with another coordinator. Again, you get points based on how well you do in the battle. The winner, of course, will get more.
Then the judges total up the scores and you see who wins!
If any of this is confusing, PM or talk to via the chat LotusCalm.
